Kamp's Korner visited The Compound last night for a girls basketball open gym. There were a ton of players and a ton of talent in the gym last night. It even featured some terrific college talent running the floor! We're going to give you just a few of the college players that we saw at The Compound last night.
Samone Andrews (G, Rochester Christian)
Last year at Rochester Christian Andrews started 23 games and averaged just under 10 points per game. After seeing her at the open gym, I'm confident in saying that she's ready for a big season. Andrews had one of the most dangerous pull up jumpers and a lethal step back jumper in high school. After seeing her hit multiple of each last night, those shots are even better now and will be big time assets this coming collegiate season.
Anayya Davis (G/F, Grand Valley State University)
Davis is heading into her freshman season at Grand Valley State University. The Lakers are coming off a National Championship season, but the program improves even more with a player like Davis. She looked like she could play an instant role for GVSU. She pulled up for triples off the bounce with ease and hit them at a high percentage. Davis' straight line righty drive with a soft scooping finish was basically unguardable last night.
Tyra Wright (G, Jackson College)
Tyra Wright was always one of the more underrated high school players in Michigan. I know what I saw from Day 1 though. Wright is heading to Jackson College for college ball. She's a high energy guard that will bring intensity to both ends of the floor. I know Wright has drawn a lot of attention for her jumper and her offensive output, and deservedly so. But last night at The Compound, I really like the way she looked as a distributor, initiator of the offense and a passer.
