The Gus Macker in Gaylord, MI is a longstanding basketball tradition here in Michigan. Many generations of hoopers have squared off in parking lots and streets, hoping to take home a Macker championship. The Gaylord Gus Macker has a since of pride to it. People will always talk and tell stories about their Gus Macker days.
The next generation of basketball stars was certainly on display last weekend. There was a ton of talent all over the place. But there was 1 team of 4 up and coming stars that managed to rise to the top. The team won the championship and did so in dominating fashion - putting on a show at the Macker! They finished 5-0 and rolled through 3 games by scores of 15-2, 15-4 and 15-2. They won their other 2 games 12-4 and 10-5. They proved to be 4 of the top young stars in Michigan!
Let's give a shoutout to the 4 young ladies comprised this super team of 10 and 11 year old ballers!
Jordyn McWright (Saginaw)
McWright and her power were unmatchable at the Macker!
Brooklyn Elkins (Grand Blanc)
The well rounded guard created and shot better than any in Gaylord!
Chloe Walker (North Branch)
Walker was a do-it-all guard that could always be counted on!
Kendall Kirk (North Branch)
Every team needs toughness and a player willing to battle like Kirk!
We're not done giving these players the props that they deserve! Check out "Putting On A Show At The Macker - EXTRA" on kampskorner.substack.com!
