Summer ball in June gives us our first look at incoming freshman playing with their high school teams. Since we're mid June already, we're going to give you 5 freshman to watch.
Janiah Batchelor (2029, C, Belleville)
Remember this name, because you'll be hearing it a lot over the next 4 years. Her defense stands out as she searches for opportunities to send a shot back to where it came from. Batchelor is really good around the rim offensively. She can score in a busy lane both in the offense or off the glass.
Gabby Carson (2029, F/C, Buchanan)
Carson looks like an elite post player in the class of 2029. She's tall and strong, but that's just the start. Carson has unbelievably soft feet for her age and height. She can move laterally and slide across the lane to help on D. Carson knows how to earn offensive position and get good looks at the rim.
Delaney Hinkle (2029, G, Byron Center)
Hinkle comes from a family of athletes, so it's no surprise that she one and the same. She's one of those people that's "just good at stuff". Whatever she sets her mind to athletically, she can most likely achieve. Hinkle can be trusted as a ball handler and will go all out defensively.
Evelyn Hoener (2029, G, Detroit Country Day)
Hoener is a fun prospect to watch. She's active on the glass on both ends of the court. Hoener is willing to find a player for a box out and establish position. She can grab a defensive board and use the dribble to push the pace off of it.
Azarriah Knight (2028, G, Detroit MLK)
Knight and her defense go hand in hand. She keeps a low base with arms wide, giving the offensive players very few options. Some may try to go through her, but Knight cuts them off with a powerful base. She uses her D to force turnovers and get downhill going the other way.
